Inver House Distillers Ltd – Balblair Still House.
Balblair is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, having been officially founded in 1790 (although illicit distilling is believed to have taken place on the site for some time before that). The present distillery buildings date from the 1890s.
In 2011 it was time for a change and the Still house was upgraded to a PLC controlled semi-automated control system to allow the distilling process to be controlled from an operator interface in the mash house.
Although the distilling is now semi-automated the operators are still very much in control of the process and continue to impart their own individual touches which contribute so much to the finished dram.
Muirton Control & Automation Ltd were engaged to carry out the control & instrumentation, electrical and pneumatic installations in conjunction with process design engineers Allen Associates of Stirling and Emac Engineering of Invergordon who carried out the mechanical works.
The project was completed successfully on time and within budget.
We are extremely proud to play our part in bringing some of Scotland’s most iconic and best loved brands to life.
